Challenges That Babies with Down Syndrome Face.
Children with Down syndrome want to do everything that children without it do now, they want to walk, talk, and explore their environment. But they can't just do that like we can, they need to develop their gross motor skills. Kids with Down syndrome would need to go to physical, occupational, and speech therapy. By going to therapy it would help the children with Down syndrome get to where they want to be. Therapy will help them become independent when doing things. For exmple, some of the compensations can lead to long-term complications, such as pain in the feet or the development of an inefficient walking pattern.
Physical Therapy Session
The goal of physical therapy for children with Down syndrome is not to accelerate the rate of their development. It is used to help the child develop good posture, foot alignment and good physical foundation for exercise throughout life.
First, the therapist observe the skill that the child alread have on their own, than the therapist determine what the child is ready to learn next. The therapist will then teach child what they're ready to learn rather than work thats too advance for them. They go in a pace where the child can follow. Second, once the therapist understand or learn how and what that child needs, they develop a way to teach that skill. They break down the steps and practice the skills with the child. The strategies are based on the child's learning style and physical make-up. Lastly and more importantly, the therapist teaches the parent how to practice the skills at home with the child. Through practice and repetition, the child will develop strength and efficiency, leading to mastery of the skill. Children with Down syndrome have a unique learning way and we have to learn how to understand and respect it.

Speech& Language Therapy
Children with Down syndrome have strengths and challenges in development of communication skills, speaking, composing sentences and language skills and reading. It takes a lot of people to help children progress well in speech and language including speech-language pathologists, classroom teachers, special educators, and families. Speech-language pathologists have an important job to help address the speech and language problems faced by the children with Down syndrome. School learning is language based and the classroom teacher and special educator, as well as the speech-language pathologist help in modifying
language and curriculum to help children learn. Parents can play a big role in their child's speech and language development because home and daily communication activities can help keep your child practicing speaking.
